About me
Rui DeGouveia was born in Funchal – Madeira, Portugal and raised in Southern Africa. Rui, an entrepreneur at heart, has spent the past three decades serving in a variety of leadership roles in Business, Consulting and Non-profit organizations. He was General Manager/Trader - South Africa, for a Hong Kong based multi-national; General Manager/Business Consultant of GENHAFA/DIKOS - advising executives on ways to increase their presence in Southern Africa; Northeast Regional Director of Street Smart Kids - securing appearances on The Rosie O’Donnell Show to promote child safety games; non-profit Organization Chairman / Founding Director of an HIV/AIDS Clinic in Southern Africa - working with several multi-national organizations and private practices to secure funding and provide healthcare to patients affected with HIV/AIDS.
For the past 10 years, Rui has focused on his passion for photography, photojournalism and philanthropy. His interest in politics and world affairs encouraged him to build a library of political photos that first started while attending the trial of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, (President Nelson Mandela’s 1st wife), as part of his thesis for his degree in International Law and Anthropology.
His love for fundraising and philanthropy has led him to his latest venture using art to raise funds for other non-profit organizations, clubs and the community.
